So please, oh PLEASE, we beg, we pray,
Go throw your TV set away, and in it's place you can install
A lovely bookshelf on the wall.

Harvest Season is Here

I have returned from my travels abroad and am happily settling down into family life. Upon my return, the first thing I noticed is that summer is gone and Autumn is upon us!

Now I don't know about you, but for me, Autumn is the best time of the year! Everything about autumn, from the colorful leaves to the warm apple cider, makes me happy.

The BEST thing to do on a cool autumn day is curl up on the couch with a blanket, a book, and a wonderfully warm cup of tea, while playing softly in the background is some soft, autumn music! What a wonderful feeling!

Now in case you are thinking of doing just that, here are some book recommendations!

The stillness of the mountains, the pines covering the hillsides, the gurgle of the spring... this was her home The prairie fires that sweep the grazing lands, the coming of white men with their guns and diseases, and the quick slaughter of the vast buffalo herds leave Running Fawn's Blackfoot tribe with little choice but to take up residence on the assigned Reserve. All her life, Running Fawn has known only contentment, but now what will become of her hopes and dreams?

Can a Canaanite harlot who has made her livelihood by looking desirable to men make a fitting wife for one of the leaders of Israel? Shockingly, the Bible’s answer is yes. At the age of fifteen Rahab is forced into prostitution by her beloved father. In her years as a courtesan, she learns to mistrust men and hate herself. Into the emotional turmoil of her world walks Salmone, a respected leader of Judah. Through the tribulations of a stormy relationship, Rahab and Salmone learn the true source of one another’s worth in God and find healing from fear and rejection

A vibrant portrait of Amy Carmichael-one of India's most beloved missionaries. Follow the journey of a courageous Irishwoman who spent 53 years in South India without furlough, earning the nickname "Amma" or "Mother" from the underprivileged children she regarded as God's jewels.

The Leininger family settled deep within America’s new frontier in the Blue Mountains of Pennsylvania. A sudden Indian raid changed their lives forever. This story retells the heroic and daring escape of Barbara Leininger, and the touching reunion with her sister, Regina, after nine years. It also gives us an endearing portrayal of the love between family members and the strength of childhood memories. Father and Mother Leininger’s commitment to “hide” God’s Word in the hearts of their children yielded the fruit of an enduring faith in their Savior. Barbara and Regina held firmly to the belief that they were never alone, even in their darkest hour

Well, there is a few for ya! I'll let you get reading now ;-) .
